The scene opens with a close up shot of replica NIWF and IWG world title belts. The sunlight shines giving the newly shined and polished belts a radiant look…however they are no longer the belts the very best are seeking. Their time in the public eye has passed. The new major prize in the wrestling world is under lock and key. This week it will be unveiled to the public for the first time when the first ever PWR World Champion is crowned live on Crash Tv. The camera swings sideways a few inches focusing on a picture of Silvio with his trademark insincere beaming grin. The NIWF title belt around his waist and the IWG belt over his shoulder. Both belts with so many years of history…so many great champions have worn the 10 pounds of gold.
“The billion dollar emperor…just champion!”
Silvio leans across the mantelpiece and straightens the photo frame. Noticing the cameras he adjusts his tie and grins at them with all the sincerity of a snake oil salesman. Silvio then adjusts the frame again making sure to further showcase the picture of him with the belts. Knowing Silvio the only surprise is that the photo isn’t about 10 times bigger.
“You know those belts always meant something in the organisations they represented. Both existed for a good number of years and slowly built up a legacy and fine linage over the years. The NIWF belt was around this gorgeous waist on three occasions only removed by acts of treachery and devious methods! The IWG belt was removed due to the company closing. That was because the owner of IWG Al Marin was jealous of the MWA legend and so green with envy was he that he closed the company just to end the great Silvio Megala reign as champion! Ironically enough along with an individual named Aaron Adams the other competitor the night of the IWG title victory was Edward Stitchard! His second defeat of what has ultimately become four at the hands of the 6 time winner of the Milan Fashion Awards!”
Silvio unsurprisingly fails to note that all four of those victories included some form of cheating. Only Silvio could be so egotistical to accuse someone of closing their company simply to spite him.
“The PWR Title will be different in regards to the linage and prestige attached to it! Firstly since you are looking at the man destined to be the first champion it will instantly become the greatest and most recognised title in all of professional wrestling! Only yours truly could give a belt such instant credibility! NIWF and IWG had to build up that reputation for their world title over the years and succeeded! However it was after months and months of gruelling contests. So much blood, sweat and tears were shed until they established themselves amongst the leading lights and grand prizes in wrestling!”
“Prestige is one thing! Linage in wrestling belts however passes down from generation to generation. The belts pass from waist to waist! In the case of the NIWF and IWG belts they sometimes become a little stained in that linage. Champions without class or respectable image are sometimes lucky enough to get their hands on the gold. When that happens the belt loses just that little bit of prestige. Cheating takes place sometimes in major bouts and a belt won without dignity is not symbolic of true honour!”
Silvio of course is oblivious to his own tactics in championship matches. He has stooped to the lowest depths to win and regain his belts even getting himself intentionally disqualified on one occasion to keep his champion status.
“The PWR world title linage will be one of purity throughout! From the very beginning it’s reputation will be one where only the most honourable men prevail! However it will be quite some time until the belt has any linage at all! At least in regards to the number of champions! Many will come but many will fail! This belt however will remain around this waist until the day the figurehead of class and wealth retires! That day is many years away! Hopefully however many years from now great men will follow in these footsteps! Even if they were only to be half the champion that the Italian genius will be that would be a colossal accomplishment!”
The camera crew can be heard muttering under their breaths but Silvio seems oblivious to it. Usually when he speaks it’s almost like the only presence he can feel is his own. He is barely even acknowledging the presence of the others in the room.
“This week an individual named Lance Invictus will be in the opposite corner! We have never faced each other in the ring. Lance you’re a very lucky man! Not only will you be able to tell your grandchildren in years to come that you faced Silvio Megala but you were involved in the first ever PWR World title match! It will be a trivia question years from now! Who did Silvio Megala defeat when he won the first ever PWR championship bout? Not the most dreadful thing you could be known for! Yes the statistics show that we are joint top of the league competition for this title but this is the deciding bout! So forget what has already taken place this is the real championship match Lance!”
“So far Lance you have participated in one PWR bout. That was in the league against Edward Stitchard. You would have had further bouts had Hell and The Ace not been disqualified for altercations with PWR officials. In your one bout however you impressed the audience. Rather than going full steam and leaving yourself open and vulnerable you wrestled cautiously. You had not faced Stitchard before so you took a mat wrestling approach rather than your traditional brawling techniques. You matched him hold for hold. However you needed an assist didn’t you Lance? You needed the intervention of the CEO of Megala Enterprises and a steel chair! Eddie had to be punished and reprimanded after he assaulted yours truly following our bout because he’s a sore loser! He lost our match fair and square and he reacted like a crybaby! It was unfortunate but he had to be taught a lesson and you benefited from it!”
Considering the way Megala beat Stitchard it’s no wonder Eddie snapped and attacked Megala afterwards!
“Do not attempt to cheat please Lance in our match on Saturday. You might only be a small footnote in what is destined to be a glorious reign but compete with dignity please! Take your loss like a man! The billion dollar emperor was going to say that a mat wrestling approach the likes of which you took against Eddie would be unwise! You wouldn’t want to be tied up on the mat against the master of submission! In essence however Lance any approach would be to no avail when you’re facing the greatest wrestler to have ever graced the earth!”
“Don’t be a sore loser Lance! Don’t be ashamed when you fail in your doomed quest! The self proclaimed lord of war will not reign supreme in this battle! It would be an incredible achivement for you to even remain standing on the battlefield when this bout is over! Even if you simply deliver a competitive outing that woukl be a fine achievement when facing someone of unmatched ring prowess!”
Megala seems even more deluded than usual. He has even kept motioning to his waist almost as if the PWR belt is there already. He might even have ordered a statue of himself with the belt by now!
“You have only ever lost 2 matches Lance. A proud record but doesn’t the saying go that third time is the charm? Well unfortunately for you Lance it won’t be! See you at Crash Tv!
