"55% of Americans deny evolution is even real. According to Gallup polls as recent as 2005, there are still 55% of people who believe the earth is only 6000 years old. That we did not descend from a common ancestor of apes. Over 150 million people, despite all the evidence in front of them, reject this overwhelming fact. How can this not bother you? How can it not worry you?
Heh, evolution. It's funny, when you think about it. We define it, in its simplest terms, as a slow progressive change over a long period of time. Species are met with changes in their environment, and through mutations in their DNA develop traits which allow them better survivability. Those that do survive live to pass along these traits to their offspring, thus allowing the species to adapt to the ever changing environment.
But that isn't what humors me about it. That isn't what brings me a chuckle. It's speaking of it here and now, facing you come Sunday Dustin. Because maybe in some ways, you have evolved. Not in the literal sense, of course. Metaphorically. I've watched you as you compete here. I've watched you grow. I've watched you mature. I've watched you develop into the wrestler I always knew you could be. And it brings a tear of joy to my eye. It truly does. When you first came here, I saw such potential in you. Then, as time went on, I watched you start your climb that would lead to a failed attempt at reaching the so called "lime light."
Words cannot describe how much that saddens me. To know that at my hands such talent will be lost. You were once one of the proudest men to ever be in this industry, Now all I see is a shell, a hollow and withered husk of what you used to be.Slowly you began gaining ground again, like a snowball turning into a avalanche, you were gaining momentum, starting to get life back into those old bones, proving the naysayers wrong by winning week after week.
And then you ruined it. You couldn't even finish Naughty Ned! It was your chance to finally break through. To finally be recognized for your talent. And you let it pass you by. You took hold of that golden ring that for so long seemed out of reach, and you slipped and you fell. And you fell hard, Dustin.
Now you think Sunday may be your chance at redemption? Now you think, Sunday, will be your chance to show those people you're more than just a pretty face? Heh, I think not. This is my environment. Here, I am the dominant species. I have destroyed all competition in my path, and in no way will I let that be altered on this evening.
The unfortunate thing about our world is that sometimes, species aren't able to adapt. They simply die out. Those better adapted to survive this harsh environment move on while they are simply forgotten. This is where we come to you, Dustin Weaver. You've been able to survive thus far. But no longer. Sunday, you become another extinct species in this cruel, cruel world. And I? I go on as I always have.
Forget my past accomplishments. Forget the World Titles, Forget the Olympic gold medal Forget my future Hall of Fame moniker. They don't mean a thing when I step into that ring. All that matters is the here and now. Here, in the wrestling ring, I'm a lion. The king over all others in the PWR. Now? I'm better, stronger, faster, smarter than I've ever been. I'm the deadliest warrior to have ever stepped foot into this company. I am the predator all other competitors fear. And you? Simply another casualty. More prey so that I may go on.
You will not take this title shot from me. You cannot take this title shot from me. As always the case, inevitability will rear its ugly head. I will defeat you, I will break you and I will slaughter you. And with your last breath, you shall see the beautiful truth. This is my GOLDEN ERA!
